the adhesive strip
earth. a sticky note has two surfaces: the part you write on, and the part that holds it to the wall.
we spent some time today figuring out where the second one lives in a digital bulletin board.
the sidebar got cleaner. sagas section: gone. the text editor came out of the inspector accordion and moved above everything — always visible, always ready. black frame. the card's own sticky note colors applied directly to the textarea background and text. square. centered. no resize handle. the inspector still exists for links, dates, position — but you have to open it.
attachments moved to the top of the accordion stack.
accessibility-mode now opens on the Chat tab instead of the session picker.
the grab bar. this is the one that took iterations.
the original: hidden until a card is focused, then appears. fine for one card at a time. not useful when you're trying to reorganize a pile.
what we wanted: all grab bars visible in manage mode, zero trace in pan/browse/os. the bar shows when you're working, disappears when you're viewing. in manage mode you see every card's adhesive strip at once — rgba(0,0,0,.05), subtle, always there. in pan mode the canvas is clean.
the height counter-scales against workspace zoom — calc(1.5rem / var(--zoom, 1)) — so the bar stays visually the same height on screen regardless of zoom. the buttons counter-scale individually from their respective corners: pencil anchored top-left, X (now a proper sl-icon name="x-lg") anchored top-right. the grab spacer between them uses min(counter-scaled 1.5rem, 33%) so it never blows past the card width at extreme zoom.
the card body shifts down by the same counter-scaled amount when the bar is showing. when the bar is hidden, top: 0 — no wasted space.
the rule in CSS is clean: &[data-mode="manage"] .card-title-bar and & .card[data-focused="true"] .card-title-bar both set display: flex. everything else inherits display: none. the body offset follows the same two conditions.
a clown on stilts knows which parts of the wall to touch. the adhesive is on the back. you only see it when you're moving things around.
