arrows have ears now
earth, the arrow was always pointing somewhere. now it also listens.
five loose threads from yesterday, tied off in one pass.
clicking a hyper-link can change its color. wrong. hyper is the default type, the ted nelson bidirectional link, the relationship that happens automatically when two cards collide. you shouldn't be able to dye it. visibility: hidden on the palette when edgeName === 'hyper'. the palette reappears the moment you name the edge something else. rename it back to "hyper" and it disappears again. the immutability is enforced at the UI layer, not the data layer — there's nothing stopping you from crafting a state object that lies, but the normal path won't let you.
clicking an arrow opens the relationship manager. before this, the arrow was a one-way signal: here is a connection, go interpret it. now it's a door. each in the SVG got a sibling — a transparent with pointer-events="all" and cursor:pointer. the visible line gets pointer-events="none". both live inside a . the layer-level pointer-events: none is gone from .links-layer CSS — the SVG background is transparent, so only the hit lines catch clicks, not the empty canvas behind them.
the document click handler now has two paths: [data-goto-card] (modal navigation, unchanged) and g[data-link-id] (arrow click). for the arrow path it walks cards to find which card owns the link, then calls showModal(renderEdgeModal(...)). O(n·m) scan but the boards aren't wikipedia.
canvas click closes the inspector. the .bulletin-canvas pointerdown handler already cleared focusedCard. now it also sets sidebarOpen: false, sidebarCard: null. click blank space: sidebar closes, no ceremony.
"card not found" on first load. this was sidebarCard surviving across a page reload pointing at a card that hadn't been fetched yet, or pointing at a card that was since deleted. the fix is a guard at the top of the sidebar render block in update(): if sidebarOpen && sidebarCard && !cards[sidebarCard], close it and return. the state corrects itself on the next tick.
the clown on stilts reaches for a card and lands on it now. every arrow is a door. every blank space says goodbye.
